African Djembes!

The Djembe drum is undoubtedly one of the most powerful drums in existence. It has been called "the healing drum" and dates back to the 12th century great Mali Empire of West Africa. It has an incredible tonal range and an incredible dynamic range, setting it apart from other drums.

Talking Drums!

There is a language that is spoken with these magical sounding drums. It is held under one arm and squeezed, while the other hand plays with a curved beater. It is capable of a wide range of tones.

Tongue Drums!

These beautifully handcrafted vermilion drums are a contemporary version of the traditional African slit drums. They have a very unique, haunting and wonderful sound.

Middle Eastern Doumbeks!

The Middle East contains some of the most rich, diverse and spiritual musical traditions in the world. This traditional hourglass shaped drum comes in various sizes (4" - 12" diam.) and materials (ceramic, metal, heavy cast aluminum, goatskin, fishskin, synthetic head, mylar).
Prices range from $25 to $145.

Frame Drums!

One of the most ancient of drums are frame drums. They have a larger diameter than the width of the shell. Usually single headed, frame drums can be found throughout the world. Simple yet versatile, they can be both easy and diverse. We stock all kinds of frame drums in many sizes.

We have a large variety of these wonderful Irish drums priced from $50 to $189.

Taos Drums!

Handmade by Native Americans from the Taos Pueblo, the drums sound as rich as the ancient tradition in which they are made. Played with one drumstick, their steady tones accompany stirring vocal music. Prices vary according to size from $89 to approx. $275.

GOURD KALIMBAS

The one-of-a-kind ethereal sound of the kalimba has become the musical symbol of Africa. Also known as sansa and thumb piano, it is played by plucking the tines, or keys with the thumbs or fingers. The resonators are made from select hard shell gourds and the top is wood. The diatonic scale makes for all kinds of musical fun! $55 each.
